Lidl takes 105,000 sq ft at Livingston scheme

Discount supermarket retailer, Lidl, has let 105,000 sq ft from HBoS at Livingston in West Lothian.

The letting at Kirkton Campus has consolidated the town’s position as one of Scotland’s premier distribution and warehousing locations.

Lidl already has 300,000 sq ft of distribution space at Livingston, along with Tesco, which has 350,000 sq ft and Iceland that has another 300,000 sq ft.

The supermarket chain has taken the space on a three-year lease at an annual rent of just under £290,000.

It is in the process of buying land in central Scotland, but it is not yet known whether it is to consolidate its distribution operations or add to them.

The occupier was secured for the premises six months after it was brought to the market.

Letting agent, David Fraser of King Sturge in Edinburgh, said: “Lidl had an urgent requirement for non-food storage space and the space available at Baird Road offered a cost effective and flexible solution.”

He added: “It does not know what its distribution network will look like in the future.”

King Sturge advised HBoS.
