Lidl’s delta deal secures £9m Bristol shed

Lidl-THUMB.jpegLidl is planning a new £50m distribution centre at Delta properties’ Central Park development in Avonmouth, Bristol.

It has paid around £9m for a 33-acre site where it will build a 600,000 sq ft distribution centre to serve its expanding operations in the west of England.

This is the supermarket’s fourth new warehouse to be announced in the last 12 months. It is also set to open new distribution centres in Exeter, Wednesbury and Southampton.

In November last year Lidl announced that it would invest more than £1.5bn over the next three years to expand its supermarket and warehouse portfolio to accommodate its rapid growth in the UK.

Lidl UK head of warehouse expansion Adrienne Howells, said: “It is an incredibly exciting time for Lidl as our sales performance continues to outperform the market. We are therefore working hard to ensure that the right infrastructure is in place for us to manage increased customer demand.”

Bilfinger GVA and Knight Frank International represented Delta Properties; Colliers International acted for Lidl.
