Lillywhites confirmed yesterday that it is open a 2,601.2 sq m (28,000 sq ft) store in Clumber Street, Nottingham.
Lillywhites has signed up for the whole of Taylor Clark Properties’ redevelopment of 28 Clumber Street and intends to begin trading in early November. The four-storey building was completed last week.
John Brand, of Taylor Clark Properties, said the lease runs for 17 years and that the rent breaks back to a Zone A of about £150 per sq ft on the Clumber Street frontage. He said several national multiples were interested in creating units on Clumber Street before Lillywhites made an offer on the whole building.
The developer bought the site – the former East Town House – from Guardian Properties for £6m. Development costs were put at £2m.
Lillywhites, which was acquired last year by quoted Portuguese company Jeronimo Martins from Forte for £28.5m, will open stores in Milton Keynes next week; at The Glades, Bromley,on 19 September; and in Leeds on 4 October. By the end of the year there will be eight stores in addition to the original store in Piccadilly Circus, London, W1.
In Nottingham, D E & J Levy advised Taylor Clark Properties and Leslie Perkins acted for Lillywhites.
