Linden Homes has been given the go-ahead to build 256 “EcoExcellent” homes on the 9.4-acre cattle market in Chippenham, Wiltshire.
The decision came as rival Bellway confirmed that it was in early takeover talks with the developer, which is believed to be worth around £300m.
Linden is now rated as the 45th biggest private company in the UK, according to Fast Track’s Top Track 250.
