Linden to develop Chichester hospital site scheme

Linden Homes has signed a formal development agreement with English Partnerships to develop an 800-home scheme on a former hospital site in Chichester, west Sussex.   Linden, alongside EP and Downland, part of affordable home provider Affinity Sutton Group, plans the houses which comprise 40% affordable housing alongside community facilities on an 89-acre site.   The site is one of 96 former NHS sites transferred to government regeneration body EP for redevelopment.   The scheme will retain key existing former hospital buildings including the Grade II listed farmhouse and a chapel dating from around 1890.   Consultation with local politicians, residents and key stakeholders will commence immediately with a full public consultation to follow. It is anticipated that a detailed planning application will be submitted during the summer of 2008.   joanne.payne@rbi.co.uk
