Linkcity gets green light for Newham resi project

Linkcity has been granted planning consent for its third phase of development at the Hallsville Quarter in Canning Town, E16.

The Hawkins-Brown designed project comprises 620 flats including 50 care home units, the first in the London borough of Newham. It will also include a further 118,404 sq ft of development including retail, leisure, offices and an NHS health centre. The project is expected to be completed in 2023.

The broader Hallsville Quarter project includes shops, offices, leisure, hotel, community uses, student accommodation, 1,148 flats and basement car parking.

Simon Marks, partner at Montagu Evans, which advised Linkcity, said: “This is an important application for Newham, securing a further phase of development that will bring new amenities to the area, including an NHS health centre and the borough’s first extra care homes.

“These updates to the original 2012 consented masterplan will help landowner and development partner LB Newham better meet local needs with more homes, including affordable housing, in a well-planned development close to public transport, shops, health and leisure facilities.”
