An eleventh-hour bid by conservationists to preserve an art deco car park could scupper plans by Helical Bar and National Car Parks (NCP) for an 93,000 sq ft (8,630 sq m) mixed-use scheme in London’s Soho.
The company’s plans to redevelop the 1928 NCP building, on the junction of Brewer Street and Lexington Street, are in doubt following a bid to save it by conservation groups.
English Heritage historic building inspector for Westminster, Stephen Robb, has recommended to the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) that the building should be preserved.
