Little Chef reaches the end of the road

Travelodge is putting around 120 of its Little Chef roadside restaurants up for sale and will rebrand about 115 others.

The company believes the roadside restaurant chain has fallen victim to the twin challenges of the pressure to eat healthier food and fast food restaurants which do not make customers sit down to wait for a fried meal.

Company insiders do not anticipate any new buyer will want to maintain the Little Chef name. It is thought that a rival company, such as McDonald’s, will want to buy the sites.
