Sheffield Council has granted outline planning consent for a leisure scheme and a 3,716 sq m (40,000 sq ft) extension to the existing Sainsbury store on Archer Road, Sheffield, south Yorkshire.
Sainsbury and Litton Properties’ £20m proposals for the 4.86ha (12 acre) site include a 4,042 sq m (43,500 sq ft) health and fitness centre, a 2,787 sq m (30,000 sq ft) leisure unit, and a fast-food outlet or a pub. First Leisure has taken a prelet on the largest unit. In addition, another 1.62ha (4 acres) of adjoining land has been earmarked for 300 park and ride spaces.
Gerald Eve advised the applicants on planning and secured the pre-let to First Leisure. Mason & Partners and Gerald Eve are joint letting agents for the smaller units.
