Liverpool and Manchester Beetham hotels sold

The Beetham hotels in Liverpool and Manchester have been sold to London-based Cypriot businessman Loucas Louca.

Administrator KPMG sold Beetham Hotels Liverpool and Beetham Hotels Manchester to Blue Liverpool and Blue Manchester, two companies set up by Louca, last Thursday.

Both businesses are property companies but are operated as hotels through management agreements with Radisson in Liverpool and Hilton Worldwide in Manchester.

As revealed by Estates Gazette on 16 January 2010, HBOS, part-lender to the Beetham Group’s 200-bedroom Radisson Blu hotel in Liverpool and the 279-bedroom Hilton conference hotel and 219-flat 301 Deansgate in Manchester, sought to sell the two hotels in 2010.

However, the Beetham Hotels business was placed into administration with KPMG last month after a dispute with the bank.

Brian Green, joint administrator at KPMG, said: “We are delighted to announce the sale of the businesses, with no disruption to day-to-day operations and no job losses. Hilton Worldwide and Radisson are continuing to manage the day-to-day operations at the iconic hotels in Liverpool and Manchester.”

CB Richard Ellis Hotels advised KPMG.
