Liverpool city council has voted to approve compulsory purchase order powers “in principle” to deliver the £260m regeneration of Anfield.
The masterplan includes new housing, retail facilities, office space, a hotel and a £150m stadium extension.
Around 699 properties are in the designated clearance zone, with 279 already demolished or earmarked to be taken down, with 346 more purchased.
The CPO powers could be used to clear the remaining 74 properties.
