Liverpool LDC and Langtree secure business park funding

Liverpool Land Development Company (LLDC) and developer Langtree Group have announced they have secured the necessary funding to allow development of Wellington Employment Park to begin.

Work on the 164,000 sq ft speculative office and light industrial scheme is expected to begin in August following the funding decision by the Northwest Regional Development Agency and Government Office for the North West.

The development is situated on three sites totalling 12 acres, to the east and west of the A565 close to Sandhills station in north Liverpool.

Ian Hassall, LLDC’s development director, said: “Wellington Employment Park is a key element in our plans for the regeneration of the Northshore and will help us to attract much-needed investment and jobs to this part of the city.”

LLDC celebrated its third anniversary last week with the announcement that it has attracted £313m of private sector investment to Liverpool during its lifespan so far.

The figure is expected to rise to £814m by 2009.

LLDC also claims to be on target to generate 3.82m sq ft of new business and retail floorspace and to create or safeguard 12,500 jobs during its six-year lifespan.
