Redevelopment of the Grade II listed Liverpool Magistrates’ Court building into a four-star boutique hotel is expected to be given the go-ahead during the council’s planning committee meeting next week.
The former courthouse, on the corner of Dale Street and Hatton Garden, has been vacant since June 2015.
The scheme, being brought forward by Belgian firm VSHF Developments, proposes the conversion of the existing 64,712 sq ft building to include 91 bedrooms and a 9,000 sq ft new-build element which will provide further 20 bedrooms alongside a garden lounge and a gym and sauna.
The existing cells in the building will be converted to short-stay rooms.
The hotel will also offer a public bar and restaurant, which will be connected to a courtyard.
Broadgrove Planning & Development advised VSHF on planning.
