Liverpool FC reveals plans to redevelop training ground

Liverpool FC has submitted a planning application for the proposed redevelopment of the club’s first-team training ground in West Derby.

The plans submitted to Liverpool City Council seek outline planning permission to turn the Melwood training facility into family housing.

The application forms part of a wider plan to bring the club’s first team and academy football training operations and facilities together on one site in Kirkby, Merseyside.

The proposed development could provide up to 160 new homes. If permission is granted, housing developers will then be invited to bid to purchase and develop the site.

The application is expected to be determined by the council’s planning committee later this year.
