Liverpool unveils 15-year plan

A £40m conferencing extension to the ACC Arena and a 2m sq ft biomedical campus lie at the heart of the new 15-year regeneration plan for Liverpool city centre.

The City Centre Strategic Investment Framework, launched today by Liverpool Vision and Drivers Jonas Deloitte, also includes plans for improved retail between Grosvenor’s Liverpool ONE and Lime Street rail station.

The Biocampus will involve the expansion of Liverpool Science Park as the city looks to develop its existing Knowledge Quarter.

The framework also suggests the provision of more grade A office space in the city centre, and expanding the commercial district into Pall Mall and Princes Dock.

Max Steinberg, chief executive of Liverpool Vision, the city’s economic development agency, said: “The SIF is designed to create a new trajectory for the city through which Liverpool will become a world-renowned international trading and cultural location.”

Simon Bedford, partner at DJD, added: “The city has accomplished much, but the ambition to go further remains high, and the SIF is the blueprint for the next 15 years of development.”
