Lloyd’s Register of Shipping is looking to move around 400 staff from its 271,000 sq ft head office at 71 Fenchurch Street, EC3, in the City of London to the Southampton area.
It is understood that the group is among the bidders for Insight/Rok’s 210,000 sq ft Mayflower Plaza scheme in the city centre, which comprises around 110,000 sq ft of offices and 100,000 sq ft of houses.
Lloyd’s said it would look to sublet vacated space at its city headquarters.
Last month Lloyd’s Register appointed CB Richard Ellis to conduct a review its property strategy.
