Lord Lloyd-Webber says he is “thrilled” that the £10m-£11m sale of four of his West End of London theatres had been agreed with theatre professionals rather than the highest bidder.
The theatres were the Apollo, the Dutchess, the Lyric and the Garrick, which were sold to Max Wietzenhoffer, a Broadway producer, and Nica Burns, a production director.
Lord Lloyd-Webber intends to keep Really Useful Theatres eight musical theatres. He will spend £10m of the proceeds on their restoration and refurbishment.
