London annual house price growth lowest in five years

Annual house price growth in London is the lowest in five years, while price rises elsewhere have slowed sharply from last year’s average.

London house prices rose by 3.7% on the year in February, the lowest figure since April 2012, and were 0.9% lower on the month, figures from the Office for National Statistics showed.

Prices in the UK as a whole rose by 5.8% on the year, an increase on January’s 5.3% rise. The figure for January was revised down from the originally reported 6.2% increase. Last year’s average increase was 7.3%.
