Housing association Circle Housing and Crest Nicholson have announced a partnership to develop the London Chest Hospital site in Bethnal Green, E2.
Circle Housing bought the redevelopment opportunity from Barts Health NHS Trust for £49.6m earlier this year.
The four-acre site, which consists of the 1855 hospital alongside ancillary buildings, was decommissioned after the relocation of services to Barts Heart Centre at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in April 2015.
A planning application is expected to be submitted in 2016. GRID has been selected as the scheme’s architect.
Kerry Bourne, director of property consultancy for Essentia, which acted for Barts on the sale, said: “The London property market continues to thrive, allowing NHS trusts opportunities to maximise and leverage their assets, in this case through property disposal.”
