London City airport has been given the go-ahead for a £344m expansion that will create a further 1,600 jobs and an additional 500 during construction.
The airport’s terminal will be expanded, increasing capacity by around 40%, while work will be carried out to enable bigger planes to use the airport.
A decision on expanding airport capacity at either Gatwick or Heathrow will be made this autumn, Chancellor Philip Hammond said.
