London First appoints new CEO

London First has promoted John Dickie to the role of chief executive following the departure of Jasmine Whitbread.

Dickie has been promoted from director of policy and strategy at the business campaigning group, taking over from Whitbread who left in March.

He is the former deputy leader of Camden Council and previously worked as head of corporate affairs at the BBC.

Dickie said: “London First has an essential role to play as a champion of the city, making the clear case for the actions to put London on a rapid path to recovery; to tackle the capital’s long-standing competitiveness challenges, such as over housing and skills; and, as we recover, to level up in London as part of levelling up across the whole UK.”

Paul Drechsler CBE, chair of London First, added:“John understands first-hand the huge collective effort from government, London boroughs, businesses and local communities that combine to make London the best capital city in the world to live, work and play.”
