London homes selling twice as slow as Scottish properties

Fresh figures from property portal Zoopla reveal a slowdown in residential sales.

It found that a typical property in Britain was on the market for an average of 34 days in 2023, some two weeks longer than in 2022.

Houses and flats for sale in the capital were on the market for an average of 40 days in 2023, compared with 20 days in Scotland.

Zoopla said the regional differences in 2023 were primarily a reflection of affordability and the impact of higher mortgage rates on buyers in markets with higher house prices.
