Barnard Marcus celebrated a 69% success rate at its second auction of 2015, raising £21m.
Of 154 lots offered, 106 sold, with 77 selling in the room and 19 prior.
London lots achieved high prices. The leasehold of a three-room Mayfair flat at Cavendish Buildings, W1, sold for £100,000 more than its £650,000 guide price with the hammer going down at £756,000. It was offered on behalf of a private individual, and bought by a private investor.
A vacant freehold development site in Morden, Surrey, attracted the most interest and sold for £1.2m to a private developer. The site has planning for 12 self-contained flats and was sold on behalf of a private individual.
A residential investment at 98 Dollis Hill Avenue, NW2, was sold by order of court and sold for 28% above its asking price. The two-floor mid-terrace house, which requires modernising, was sold after highly competitive bidding for £606,000.
Auctioneer Chris Glenn said: “Those sellers that held their nerve and used the correct pricing strategy found that competition for their lots was high, resulting in some great prices achieved.”
The auction took place on 10 March at the Grand Connaught Rooms, WC2.
