Ken Livingstone has promised quicker planning decisions and more office space for businesses in London, in exchange for a commitment by business to employ “disadvantaged Londoners”.
Livingstone made his comments at the today’s launch of the London Development Agency’s Economic Development Strategy.
“We are a pro-growth administration. We have a can-do attitude. We will work with business and we will invest to make sure that London is a vibrant competitive global city. But we must also make sure that London people get their fair share of new jobs,” he said.
The Mayor also made a personal commitment to give priority to the development of new offices, including skyscrapers, but said that his support for business was dependent on its support for deprived areas of the capital.
