• What is the most investable city outside of London?
• If you could develop any new infrastructure to take a city to the next level, what would it be, where would you do it, and why?
•What has been one of the biggest commercial property successes – or failures – in a regional city?
Estates Gazette is putting these questions to its Twitter followers over the coming week to fuel a debate about investment in the regions.
It comes as the market is at its most active since the recession, and for once, it’s not London-centric.
By using the hashtag #BeyondLondon EG wants to capture the thoughts of its followers to kickstart a panel debate about the best cities to invest in outside the capital.
It will involve some of the UK’s highest-profile investors, including:
• Kent Gardner, chief executive, Evans Randall
• Hideto Yamada, managing director, Europe, Mitsui Fudosan
• Rob Howe, head of UK real estate, Valad Property Group
• Lynda Shillaw, head of real estate, Scottish Widows Investment Partnership
The debate will be part of a special EGTV programme entitled Looking Beyond London, where the investors will discuss their constraints, hopes and fears about committing in alternative destinations.
The broadcast is sponsored by BNP Paribas Real Estate and will also include the firm’s Richard Garside, Gavin Willins and Andrew Meikle making pitches for London, Scotland and Birmingham respectively.
In the meantime, get tweeting using the hashtag #BeyondLondon and be part of the debate.
Then tune into the programme on EGTV on Tuesday 26 November at 3pm to see what you started.
