London & Regional Properties has filed plans with the London Borough of Southwark for a student accommodation-led mixed-use scheme.
The developer plans to transform Skipton House on London Road, SE1, into a scheme comprising 1,434 student beds and 243 affordable homes.
Skipton House will be demolished and four linked buildings ranging in height from 21 to 31 storeys will be built. The scheme includes 9,900 sq ft of retail and food and beverage space and 12,000 sq ft of flexible office and medical services space.
The 250,000 sq ft building has been vacant since the Department of Health vacated it when its lease expired in September 2022.
