Development of a new 23-storey residential tower in Wandsworth, south London is set to start this summer.
The developer behind the scheme, the Key London Alliance (KLA) partnership, comprises registered social landlords Notting Hill Housing Group and Circle Anglia, and housebuilders Barratt Homes and Willmott Dixon.
The partnership was formed under the London Wide Initiative pilot project (LWI) aimed at helping more of the capital’s key workers onto the housing ladder.
The scheme, in addition to the tower, includes an eight story building, retail units and resident’s parking and will house 159 one and two bedroom apartments.
Of these 50 will be offered for discounted sale to accredited key workers such as teachers, NHS staff and emergency services personnel; 47 for occupation on a part sale/part rent shared ownership basis; and 62 for sale on the open market.
Designed for KLA by architects Squire & Partners, the new development will be built on redundant brownfield land off Neville Gill Close, overlooking King George’s Park and adjacent to Wandsworth’s Southside shopping centre.
The project, agreed with English Partnerships who established the LWI initiative, already has detailed planning consent.
Work on the scheme, the first of several through which KLA expects to deliver some 2000 homes, will get under way later this summer with first occupation expected from Autumn 2007, and completion due in summer 2008.
