London Square has hired two senior industry figures to spearhead its work in north and south London, as it pushes ahead with plans to build 2,000 homes each year in the capital by 2028.
The developer has formed two new divisions – London Square North and London Square South – to focus on its schemes in each area of the city.
Alan Edgar has joined the company to lead London Square North as managing director. He joins from Mount Anvil, where he was production director, before which he was a director at Berkeley Homes West London and Berkeley St Edward.
Another former Berkeley director, Sean Gavin, has been appointed as managing director of London Square South. Gavin was operations director at Berkeley Homes for 12 years, and earlier worked for Ballymore, where he was UK construction director.
Adam Lawrence, chief executive of London Square, said Edgar and Gavin will bring “outstanding expertise and track records to lead our new divisions at an operational level”.
The two new divisions will sit alongside London Square Developments, the group’s private for-sale arm; public-sector focused London Square Partners; commercial division London Square Works; and newly launched London Square Living, the group’s BTR offering.
Recent wins for the developer include being chosen as South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust’s development partner for the next phase of Springfield Park’s regeneration in Wandsworth. London Square will provide new homes and transform the Springfield University Hospital site, in its third major London regeneration scheme of the past six months.
Also falling under Gavin’s remit is the Growing Brixton Rec Quarter project in Lambeth, where the developer was chosen last year to develop affordable homes with its independent affordable provider, Square Roots, and the developer’s £400m BTR scheme at Nine Elms Park (pictured).
Lawrence added: “We are now offering the entire ecosystem of tenures – private for-sale, for-rent and affordable – as well as retail, office, leisure and community space through our commercial arm.
“We have committed to £2bn investment over the next five years for building well-designed homes across the capital, increasing from 500 homes completed this year to 2,000 homes a year by 2028.”
