London suffers as UK economy powers along

London has suffered a sharp slowdown in economic activity while the rest of the UK has been buoyant, according to a survey sponsored by Royal Bank of Scotland.

The survey showed that Northern Ireland remained top of the national growth league in the three months to May, closely followed by the East Midlands and the South East.

London, which was top in the final quarter of last year, has slipped to eighth place in terms of economic growth.
