London Tribunals gets green light for City downsize

London Tribunals, the independent adjudicator which oversees appeals against parking tickets, has got the all-clear to downsize and move its office from Midtown to the City.

The organisation’s plans to move reduce its footprint and relocate were revealed in a change-of-use application for its next base on the ground floor of 24 Martin Lane, EC4, submitted in April.

As a result of the application, the space will now have permission to be used as a tribunal as well as offices, enabling the organisation to occupy it once its lease at its current base at Chancery Exchange, 10 Furnival Street, EC4, runs out in October.

The 3,843 sq ft space will be smaller than Chancery Exchange, which London Tribunals moved into in July 2023.

The planning application attributed the decision to downsize to the “increase in remote and video appeal hearings”, which reduced the need for space.

London Tribunals’ move will bring it next to London Councils’ offices at 12 Arthur Street, EC4, which London Councils moved into in September, also in a downsizing which achieved “significant budget savings”.
