Property Investors Banquet Industry heavyweights raise more than £450,000 for the Lord Mayor’s Appeal
The first Property Investors Banquet, held at Guildhall in the City of London last week, has raised more than £450,000 for the Lord Mayor’s Appeal.
Some 400 guests attended the event, which was hosted by the Lord Mayor of London, Alan Yarrow, and supported by Estates Gazette.
A ceremonial welcome was followed by a Champagne reception and a three-course dinner. Entertainment included performances by string quartet Bond and Brit Award winners Blake.
Beneficiaries of the dinner were the Lord Mayor’s chosen charities Scope, Mencap, Royal Ballet School, City & Guilds of London Art School and Royal Academy of Arts. This year’s Lord Mayor’s Appeal is on track to raise its projected £3.2m.
Mike Slade, chief executive of Helical Bar, led the fundraising. He said: “When the Lord Mayor asked me to engage the property industry in his appeal I saw the opportunity for us to flex our charitable muscles, celebrate the recovery from the events of 2007/2009 and the current global investment in our city and its environs.”
