Lord Sugar’s property firm Amsprop has agreed a circa £43m deal to sell The Crosspoint, EC2, to The Carlyle Group for its flexible office business Uncommon.
The 41,000 sq ft nine-storey office will be rebranded Uncommon Liverpool Street and will contain 850 workstations, adding to Uncommon’s existing 1,500-desk portfolio.
Uncommon was launched by Adir Group and Carlyle in June 2017 and currently has sites in Islington and Borough, along with a 26,000 sq ft site in Fulham scheduled to open this summer.
Carlyle and the Adir team aim to expand Uncommon further across London, targeting locations with strong transport connections. The stated aims of the business include “taking advantage of changing working patterns and mind-sets”, as well as supplying “occupiers’ increased requirements for flexible space, with high levels of service and a focus on the connection between employee well-being and productivity”.
Uncommon said its workplaces were designed to appeal to established companies, small businesses and start-ups capitalising on the need to expand and contract as the size of their operations change.
