French Connection reported an H1 loss of £7.9m, unchanged from the year-earlier period.
Like-for-like sales rose 6.5%, but wholesale sales dropped 17%. The company closed five stores during the six-month period and is planning a further five closures.
Activist investor Gatemore Capital Management, which has an 8% stake in the retailer, has called for it to close around half of its stores over the next two years, reducing the total number of stores to approximately 30.
