Lovell appointed for £100m Derby housing

House builder Lovell has been appointed as the preferred partner to bring forward the £100m Castleward redevelopment project in the heart of Derby.

Regeneration specialist Compendium Living, the developer selected by Derby city council and the Homes & Communities Agency, has appointed Lovell to help build 800 new homes in the Castleward area as part of a new, mixed-use urban village.

Lovell will work alongside Compendium on the project, which is set to transform 30 acres of brownfield land between Derby Midland Station and the Westfield Shopping Centre into a new community of homes and businesses.

Construction work has begun on the first phase of development, which will include 163 homes alongside 16,150 sq ft of commercial space, a boulevard and a new urban park.

The first commercial space will be completed in autumn 2013. Up to 34,500 sq ft of commercial space will be provided in total.
