L&Q and Mount Anvil revise Whitechapel plans

L&Q and Mount Anvil have submitted revised plans to Tower Hamlets council for their Whitechapel Central scheme, E1, originally granted consent 12 months ago.

In documents submitted as part of the latest EIA application, the developer says: “Since securing planning permission, L&Q has entered into a joint venture partnership with Mount Anvil to deliver the scheme.

“The joint venture partners have identified a series of minor amendments that will improve the quality of the development and its deliverability.”

The proposed changes include:

10% increase in private and affordable homes;

70% increase in office space; and

50% decrease in car parking space.

The current scheme allows for 564 homes, 30,000 sq ft of offices and 70 car parking spaces.

L&Q said: “The proposed amendments do not result in any significant change to the height, massing or uses within the approved scheme.”

The scheme is around 0.2km from Whitechapel’s Crossrail station, which is due to open next year.
