LSH to manage Tyne & Wear Metro estate

Lambert Smith Hampton has been awarded a two-and-a-half-year contract by DB Regio Tyne & Wear to manage the estate of the Tyne & Wear Metro system.

LSH was awarded the contract by the subsidiary of German rail firm Deutsche Bahn, which will see it carry out property services covering 60 stations as well depot buildings along the network in Newcastle and Sunderland.

LSH’s contract can be extended by a potential two years depending on performance.

DB Regio Tyne & Wear formally took over responsibility for operating Metro trains and managing stations on behalf of Nexus in April 2010.

Paul Barnett, transport director at LSH in Leeds, will have overall day-to-day responsibility for delivering the contract, with support from the firm’s accounting teams in Nottingham and London, and the local office in Newcastle.

He said: “This contract is reflective of our track record in delivering truly integrated services to ensure the best commercial return on behalf of our clients; both in terms of maximising rental income and enhancing the passenger experience.”
