Luton Airport is complaining about advertisements which describe its development plans for the airport as creating a “Taj Mahal”.
Cut-price airline Easyjet made the comparison in the local newspapers. The adverts said Luton’s plans were too ambitious and would make it difficult for the airline to operate. A complaint against Easyjet has been made to the Advertising Standards Authority.
The row between the airport and its principal user comes as a short-list of two to develop the airport is about to be announced by the local authority, the owner of the site. Easyjet was angered last September when it was excluded by the council from the list of companies bidding for this opportunity.
