Luxurious Kensington care home targets only those with a healthy bank balance

It has been described as more of a luxury hotel than a care home, complete with rooms for wine tasting, a cinema and yoga studio.

Perhaps not surprisingly, a place in the retirement village being planned for the former site of Heythrop College, part of the University of London in Kensington, where a terraced house costs £4.5m, comes at a price. Rent is expected to be between £1,600 and £3,000 a week.

Sebastian Fogg, a restaurant consultant who has worked with Soho House and The Ivy, is in talks about running restaurants and bars at the development of 142 flats, which will also provide 24-hour nursing care.
