Mitchells & Butlers (M&B) is believed to lead a pack of bar operators and property investors vying to buy Orchid.
The Harvester operator will face competition from the likes of Greene King, Spirit, Starwood Capital, Colony Capital and property investment firms in offers for the 200-strong pub group tomorrow. Offers are expected to value Orchid at up to £250m. The Sunday Times says M&B is interested in buying the entire business as is at least one other, unidentified, private equity firm.
