M&G names Friary advisers

M&G Real Estate has appointed CBRE and Lunson Mitchenall to advise on lettings at its recently acquired shopping centre The Friary in Guildford, Surrey.

The 150,000 sq ft mall is let to tenants including brands such as Hollister, TopShop and Urban Outfitters.

M&G Real Estate expects to make further announcements on new lettings later this year.

Last month, the fund manager, formerly known as PRUPIM, and Hermes Real Estate Investment Management confirmed the completion of the ownership swap between thecentre:mk in Milton Keynes and the Friary centre in Guildford.

M&G Real Estate acquired The Friary, and associated holdings in North Street, Guildford, for around £150m. Hermes will contribute a balancing payment as part of the deal.

Scott Linard, director, asset management and leasing, for M&G Real Estate, said: “The Friary Centre is the regionally dominant retail scheme in Guildford and serves the town’s affluent catchment well. The appointment of CBRE and Lunson Mitchenall is in line with our strategy to reinforce the centre’s position as a strong retail destination, with a particular focus on improving its fashion line up and catering provision.”
