The Financial Times has raised the prospect that Marks & Spencer (M&S) might not go ahead as anchor tenants for Hammerson’s and Land Securities’ redevelopment and extension of Broadmead shopping centre, in Bristol.
It notes that the retailer’s new chief executive, Stuart Rose, is undertaking a complete review of strategy so it says there is no guarantee M&S will go ahead with the plan for it to be anchor tenant.
Planning permission for Broadmead is expected in the autumn. Work could start next year for competition 2008 but the bid situation at M&S could hold things up.
