M2 Capital launches £90m bid for Wilco

M2 Capital has made a £90m bid for Wilko as administrators press ahead with efforts to find a buyer.

The private equity firm has put in an offer that could preserve the collapsed retailer’s operations across its entire 400-store estate.

HMV owner Doug Putman has also made a bid for Wilko that would preserve 350 stores and pay off the company’s £40m debt to Hilco.

At least one other potential bidder from the UK is considering making an offer, although no formal bid has been entered.
