MacKenzie named as TrizecHahn ceo

Toronto-based developer TrizecHahn has appointed Christopher MacKenzie as chief executive officer.

MacKenzie was the ceo and president of GE Capital Europe until two years ago when he left to become a partner of private equity group Clayton, Dubilier & Rice.

Peter Munk will continue to serve as chairman and remain involved in TrizecHahn’s overall strategy. Gregory Wilkins will remain president and chief operating officer.

In September, TrizecHahn scaled down its plans to build leisure and entertainment centres right across continental Europe and will instead focus on three countries: Germany, Spain and Hungary.

Its European focus will now concentrate on the telehousing sector. It has already invested $160m into a joint venture with Global Switch and UK developer Chelsfield, which is headquartered in London. This will provide real estate to house secure and high-capacity telecoms facilities in Europe.
