Local developer Mailbox has confirmed two new signings for its £100m mixed-use development in Birmingham’s city centre.
The Society Cocktail Bar is a publishing and leisure tie-up between 7 Leisure and 10 Group – publishers of Society. The JV is investing £500,000 in an upmarket 214 sq m (2,300 sq ft) bar, which will open in October.
Andy Moore, non-executive chairman of 7 Leisure, said: “Birmingham has come on a million miles in the past five years in terms of leisure, but I still felt there was something lacking – a venue that takes your breath away. We intend to create a female-friendly bar which is expected to become ‘the’ place to be seen and draw on residential and office occupiers across the city.”
Meanwhile, Shogun Sushi & Noodle Bar will open its second operation in the city at the Mailbox. The 325 sq m (3,500 sq ft) restaurant will be in the prime pedestrian street which runs through the heart of the scheme and will open in September.
The Mailbox is the conversion of the former Royal Mail sorting office and has already attracted high-profile occupiers such as Malmaison, Days Inn Hotels, Christian Lacroix and Iceberg. Crosby Homes which is building 200 luxury apartments at the scheme.
