Mailbox director killed in Alps

Shay Casey, a former director of strategy and business development at Birmingham’s Mailbox scheme, has died in a climbing accident in the Alps.

Casey, 40, began his career in property with Gooch Webster in 1999 before joining GE Real Estate in London.

He joined Brockton Capital Partners in January 2012 to work on its retail-led joint venture project the Mailbox, a role he held until March this year.

Originally from County Cork in Ireland, Casey was killed while climbing in the Aosta region of the Italian Alps on Thursday afternoon.

In a personal statement, JLL director for European Capital Markets Fraser Bowen said: “Shay took a number of years out to follow his passion for travel and outdoor pursuits. He was a true gentleman to the end and will be sorely missed. Funeral arrangements are underway.”
