A dispute over new regulations could see some manufacturers pull their home electric car charger products from sale.
Manufacturers and retailers said they had not been given enough time to certify that their devices meet rules that will come into effect at the end of the month.
A draft letter from industry leaders to ministers said: “Without intervention, there is a risk that the majority of home and workplace charging solutions available in the UK will have to be withdrawn from sale.
“The government’s climate change targets rely on consumer and business confidence to adopt electric vehicles. We are deeply concerned that the detrimental impact of these regulations on the market.”
