Make moves overseas

Ken Shuttleworth, founder of Make Architects, has plans to expand into Canada and India as well as growing the firm’s London portfolio.

Shuttleworth, who worked with Lord Foster on the design of the Swiss Re Building, said the practice was busy in China and Mumbai and that further expansion in India and a potential move into the Canadian market were next on his list.

Make will also be focusing on more mixed use developments in London following the announcement earlier this month that it intends to submit plans in a bid to take over the design of the struggling Pinnacle development.

The practice is well known for working on key London schemes including 5 Broadgate, St James Market for The Crown Estate and the Elephant & Castle masterplan, which was approved in January.
