Five council tower blocks in Weston, Southampton, will undergo a £9m refurbishment.
Southampton city council will pay £3m for the scheme, and it has secured £6m from the Community Energy Saving Programme, via British Gas, towards energy saving works to the buildings.
Double glazing and wall installations are part of the makeover to the properties, which sit next to Southampton Water in International Way.
Councillor Peter Baillie, cabinet member for housing, said: “The work will vastly improve the look of the buildings, make them more energy efficient and give tenants and leaseholders much improved homes.”
