The future of Rover’s Longbridge plant,in Birmingham, is in the balance again.
Speculation is rife that Bernd Pischestrieder, chief executive of Rover’s parent BMW, could be sacked tomorrow to be replaced by Wolfgang Reitzie, an opponent of Longbridge.
Reitzie is said to see Rover’s British presence for the future only in terms of plants at Oxford and Solihull.
