The Social Sports Society has been granted consent for a 13,000 sq ft padel centre on Peary Street in New Town, Manchester.
The Social Sports Society has teamed up with Far East Consortium, the developer behind the wider Victoria North regeneration area, Red Bank, Collyhurst and MeadowSide, to deliver the project.
The 10-court venue, designed by IF_DO, is expected to open in 2025 and will be managed by Found, FEC’s in-house events operator.
The project follows the Social Sports Society’s launch of its padel venue in the new north London neighbourhood of Wembley Park, HA9. The company is developing further sites, including a multi-sports venue in Brent Cross, NW4, and three courts at Stockport Exchange, Greater Manchester.
Shilpa Lakhanpal, asset manager at Found, said: “We’ve long had a focus on expanding our sports and activity offering to enhance the wellbeing of our resident community, so developments like this, where we can offer multiple sports in a small area, are a great addition.”
Rachel Tan, director of growth and development at the Social Sport Society, said: “This venue represents our commitment to helping unlock the potential of regeneration areas, for the purpose of longer-term placemaking and serving communities with accessible gathering hubs.”
Asteer acted as planning consultants for the project.
